overview and link to standards

The Core Curriculum for all grade levels includes reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, technology, art, music, and physical education.  The core curriculum is built on the Colorado State Standards.  Based on these objectives, teachers work to meet the needs of individual students.  Each year students are assessed on these objectives and standards using the Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) and NWEA testing, as well as numerous classroom assessments.

Classroom teachers use the State Standards and District curriculum in planning integrated units of study throughout the school year.  The technology teacher and the library media specialist work with teachers to determine how selected units of study can be enhanced through use of technology, print and non-print resources in the Library Media Center.

The arts program also provides support for teachers in planning units of study.  This support is offered through selection of music and visual art related to topics being studied and through classroom, grade level, and school-wide arts activities.

The physical education program supports each child's physical development by teaching important skills for wellness and fitness.  The physical education teacher works collaboratively with classroom teachers to integrate classroom units of study into physical education.
