Parent Involvement
We believe that students learn best when parents work in partnership with the school. We encourage parent involvement through a variety of programs and opportunities.
Volunteers are most valuable to the successful operation of our school program. Parents and other community members have many opportunities to volunteer during the year in the classroom, in the media center, in the office and in the technology lab. Volunteers are also welcome to assist with planning school wide events. Our volunteers give many hours helping children and can make a positive difference at our school.
Two other opportunities for parent involvement are the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) and the Brush Creek Elementary Council.
Parent Teacher Organization
Brush Creek Elementary has a very active PTO. Membership drives occur every fall. PTO parents sponsor many activities and special events that build community spirit. Wild West Days in September is a combined effort of ECSD elementary PTO groups. Each year this fund raising event provides a fun day for families as well as many dollars for our schools.
The PTO board meets regularly, and all parents are encouraged to attend these open meetings. Meeting places and times are provided in the parent newsletter.
BCES Accountability Committee
This group is comprised of elected parents, teachers and principal, who function as a communication link between the school and the community. While not a policy making group, they direct the development and implementation of the annual school improvement plan and budget. They also serves as a sounding board for ideas related to new and ongoing school policies and programs.
