Visits from Authors
Author visits provide students with an opportunity to meet noted children’s authors, ask questions, and glean helpful tips on becoming better readers and writers.
K-5 participates, it happens once per year, and specific times for grade levels will be noted in the school newsletter.
Author visits in the library students are usually divided into three groups for author presentations: K/1, 2/3, 4/5. Additional writer’s workshops are scheduled for grades 4/5.
Recent author visits have included:
- Janet Mueller, local author and illustrator of the popular children’s book, “A Star from Grandma.
- Justin Matott, author of “OL’ Lady Grizelda,” “Oliver Kringle,” and many others.
Parents can help by
- getting autographed copies of books to students
- providing lunch (salad or sandwich) for author
- providing complimentary accommodations
