The Reading Renaissance Program's primary goal is to improve reading by accelerating growth in reading ability, fostering a love of reading in all students, developing lifelong learners and critical thinkers, and by improving test scores.

The most familiar part of this program is the Accelerated Reader software that helps teachers motivate, monitor and manage student reading practice.  Accelerated reader is a program that compliments the instruction that occurs daily in classrooms.  Through Accelerated Reader, students select a book, read it, and take a quiz on the computer.  Teachers use the program to help students set goals, monitor their own reading growth, and enjoy a variety of books that meet their individual reading abilities.
