Learn to Ski

by Bobcat Council last modified March 21, 2007 07:22 PM

Vail Resorts offers a ski program to our kindergarten through fifth grade students for two days.  We are one of the few schools in the country that can take advantage of this kind of opportunity.  It is our hope that all students will participate.

Students will be participating in the program from approx. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.  For those students who choose not to participate, supervision will be available in our library; regular classes will not be held.

The cost is approx $40 without equipment rental, $60 with rental.  These fees change every year.  Children who qualify for the school’s free and reduced lunch program may request an Economic Hardship Scholarship.

Children will be leaving BCES by school district bus each morning in time to be ready to ski at 10 a.m.  Children will be dismissed from skiing each day at approx 3 p.m. Due to the shortage of bus drivers in the school district, buses will not arrive at ski school until approx. 4:30 p.m. and will not arrive back at school until approx. 5 p.m.  Parents may choose to pick up their children at ski school at 3 p.m.

No ski equipment is to be delivered to BCES. All equipment must be taken to ski school prior to 9 a.m. on the first day of skiing, and picked up by 5 p.m. on the 2nd day.  Ski school reps will be visiting school in order to fit those students who will be renting equipment.

A packet of information is sent home at least one month prior to Learn to Ski days.  It has much more information about this program.

For more information, contact the school office.
